Stephen Westfall, Kim MacConnel, May 8, 2012.
"Kim MacConnel: 'Pleasure' (through Saturday) Anyone interested in art that dissented from the Minimalist-Conceptualist hegemony of the 1970s will want to catch the still-fresh vehemence of the five intensely colored, suavely offhand paintings on relatively flimsy fabric with which Mr. MacConnel laid the foundation for the still-pertinent Pattern and Decoration movement. Fluctuating wittingly between Matisse cutouts and Hawaiian shirts, they are sights for sore eyes, and a recent work indicates that their instigator retains his chops.
